Born from a passion for deep-dish, square-cut perfection — Via 313 brings the bold flavors of Motor City pizza to the heart of Texas.
A Trailer, Two Brothers & a Dream
It started in 2011 with a vintage Airstream trailer, two brothers from Detroit, and a firm belief that the world needed to taste authentic Detroit-style pizza. Brandon and Zane Hunt parked on South Lamar in Austin with nothing but their grandmother's recipe and a whole lot of stubbornness.
The pizza — thick, airy, crispy-edged squares topped edge-to-edge — caused lines that stretched down the block. Austinites had never experienced anything quite like it: the Wisconsin brick cheese caramelized against the pan walls, the sauce ladled on top after baking, the focaccia-like dough that somehow managed to be both light and deeply satisfying.
Word spread fast. What began as a weekend pop-up became a permanent fixture, then a brick-and-mortar, then a movement. Today Via 313 operates across multiple Texas locations — but the recipe and the soul remain exactly as they were in that little trailer on South Lamar.

Milestones & History
Brandon and Zane Hunt park a vintage Airstream trailer on South Lamar, Austin, serving Detroit-style pizza to curious Austinites for the first time.
After two years of trailer lines stretching around the block, Via 313 opens its first permanent restaurant location in East Austin.
Food publications across the country take notice. Via 313 is named one of the top pizza destinations in the United States, putting Detroit-style on the national map.
Via 313 expands beyond Austin, bringing the Detroit-style experience to Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio — Texas-wide for the first time.
Our newest and largest location opens at 600 W 6th St, Austin — a full-scale flagship restaurant celebrating over a decade of pizza perfection.

Detroit native and pizza visionary. Brandon grew up eating square-cut pizza and knew Austin needed to taste what he grew up loving.
The backbone of Via 313's operations. Zane ensures every location upholds the quality and consistency that made the Airstream famous.
Classically trained and deeply passionate, Maria leads our culinary team, developing seasonal specials while protecting the integrity of the original recipes.
Born and raised in Austin, James bridges Via 313 and the community — from local partnerships to events that bring neighbors together over great pizza.
